Holy crap. I hate attitudes like this. Since when should nursing be the dumping ground for people who don't WANT to be nurses but go into it because they figure it's easier and requires less intelligence than med school??? I think some of those doctor wannabees might have another think coming when they get into the real world and actaully have to use some critical thinking skills. OMG, maybe they'll realise they aren't THAT much smarter than the other nurses around them after all.

I soooo need to snark this bitch. This is the Navy Corpsman who describes herself as "something between a nurse and a paramedic", but when it's convenient calls herself a nurse. She was kicked out of ask_a_nurse for being rude and inappropriate in telling someone asking for education resources that "only fat and old people get diabetes". Then she send a long volley of abusive emails to the ask_a_nurse mods when we questioned her credibility and knowledge. And she snarked me about the same thing and called me names in womenhealth
But now she doesn't know that sweet-smelling urine is a sign you should go and get tested? Fucking ignorant if you ask me. And a fucking hypocrite for wanting to give advice to other people when she knows dick-all herself.
I guess she'll have to eat her words now, if she turns out to be a FAT, OLD, DIABETIC HEIFER.......

is now a source for nursing school studies.
I live in a country that has publicly funded health care. I think it really sucks that many americans do not have health insurance and have limited access to health care.
However, I think it's really fucking stupid that so many people without health insurance are so ignorant about their options.
What if something happens? What if you aren't perfectly healthy all your life?
Maybe you should make an effort to KNOW what your options might be, and find out where you can go to get health care. Maybe you should make an effort to find out stuff like, "do I have to give away all my savings to get health care", etc.
It's just prudent LIFE practise to figure that stuff out. Or know how to figure it out.
*head banging on wall*
STUPID is expecting to be spoonfed everything when the country you live in is founded on the exact opposite principle. http://community.livejournal.com/ask_a_nurse/667135.html

When you guys in Orthpaedics call a code, it might be helpful to know where you keep the code cart. Granted, the average age for the RNs in the Ortho Clinic is something like 67.4 years old, but come on...work with us crazed nurses who storm Ortho like a SWAT team on a drug bust.
Also, informing your other staff with such details as what room the code is in would be helpful, but these are just some thoughts.

Ok, I love my diva cup, and usually the menstrual cup group has some interesting info and is good support. However this one I don't quite know what to think of. Here
Would you even consider putting olive oil on your girly bits when they're irritated, especially olive oil with other herbals in it! Am I the only one who is concerned by this? Current Mood: confused

Just A Question
is no longer filled with cynical and sarcastic entries (instead it's become the general nursing question community), can we use this community for bitching about clueless co-workers, residents who think they're gods and patients who clearly need to shape up or ship out?
I don't know, I'm just tired of reading questions in cynical_nurse
like "Should I become a nurse?" or "should I accept this position/assignment?"
Isn't that what nursing

Oh, the good folks in the Winnipeg Livejournal community can certainly be snarky. They tend to be very sarcastic in there. I really enjoyed reading some of the sarcastic replies to this one:
Strep Throat or cancer?

slightly off topic....
So, what does everyone think of the Breastfeeding icon journal deletion protest
I agree it's silly of LJ to crack-down on those icons, esp considering there are much more offensive ones out there. I'm not bothered by breastfeeding anyway. Some people are, and I guess it's their right to be offended. But a dead body wrapped in plastic, or a gun pointing at a baby (saw that one today) stays, and breastfeeding icons go?
But I think this form of protest won't get anywhere with anything. "Temporary" deletion? Gimme a break. People are just having a temper tantrum. It's easy for them to do it, they don't "really" have to give up anything. They'll all take their journals back in two days. Will this protest make a difference?

a small update on our taking over
i have received an email from the_leh
saying that she has no problem with our taking over ask_a_nurse
, but as she is pretty much a secondary mod (she's over 40 weeks pregnant and had forgotten that she even was
a mod) i'm still waiting for an email from katieshy
. talula_fairie did provide another email address for her, so i've re-sent the email and hopefully we'll hear something soon.
as it stands, here would be the mods for the new community:aerostatic
if i've forgotten anyone, please let me know. the drama has been so thick, my memory is stretched thin.
also, as most of you have read, if this does happen, we'd like to designate nurses in the community with their specialties to reference more specific questions. if you'd like to be on the user info with your specialty, just leave a comment.
i'm wanting to get this organized because i am SO ready to take this over at their okay.
